FAQ

What is the event?
The “Dancing with Chicago Celebrities” dance-off will take place on March 9th, 2012. The centerpiece of the event will be a celebrity dance-off featuring local television, business and sports personalities. Some of the celebrities from past years include Rick Bayless, Kendall Gill, Don Lemon, Dina Bair and Ana Belaval from WGN TV, Dan Ponce and Leah Hope from ABC, Lee Ann Trotter, Ginger Zee and Mike Adamle from NBC.

How will the celebrities learn to dance?
Each celebrity will be paired with a professional and receive extensive instruction donated by Arthur Murray in Chicago.

Who will judge the competition?
The competition will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges, led by US Smooth champion and ABC "Dancing with the Stars" alum, Nick Kosovich. He will be joined by Snow Urbin, a fan favorite from "So You Think You Can Dance," and performer with ABC's "Dancing with the Stars" tour, and Chicago's own celebrity chef Rick Bayless, our 2006 inaugural year grand champion.

What else will happen at the actual event?
In addition to the celebrity dance-off, attendees at the event will enjoy elegant hors d’oeuvres, dessert and dancing and a professional floorshow. It's ballroom dancing up close and personal, and we guarantee a spectacular show!

How does this help charity?
All proceeds are donated to organizations courageously fighting the battle against breast cancer right here in Chicago. Each year, we select an organization to support. This year, we will be supporting, for the 7th year in a row, the wonderful work of Susan G. Komen For the Cure.

Can anyone go to the actual event?
The event itself is open to the public and we encourage people to reserve their space early, since tickets are first come, first served. The evening will be black-tie optional; there will be dance demonstrations, general dancing and a live auction in addition to the celebrity dance-off.
